How I became a child and family photographer:
Originally our specialty was child and family photography as we set up our studios in pharmacies all over country Victoria and Southern NSW. Local mums would book to have their children and families photographed. This proved to amazing grounding in honing my skills as a family and child photographer.
Learning about wedding photography:
I then began shooting weddings for the pharmacy assistants who were getting married.
It was so much fun. The opportunity to capture a couple’s special wedding day and be part of the buzz really appealed to me.
I now photograph weddings all year round and love capturing those special memories as well as delighting happy couples with beautiful albums.
Becoming a photojournalist:
When I stopped photographing in pharmacies due to the strain of being away from my young family for weeks at a time, I began working for Fairfax News as an editorial and advertising photographer.
This changed the way I photograph and added another dimension to my work as I now look for the story in everything.
My time as a media photographer has given me the ability to capture candid organic images whiles still combining the valuable portrait skills from the early child and family photography days.
